Tharoor weds Sunanda
Kerala: Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor and Sunanda Pushkar tied the knot at his ancestral home near here Sunday morning in a typical Kerala Hindu tradition.
Performing rituals as per the tradition of Nair family, Tharoor tied the 'thali' around Pushkar's neck, exchanged garlands and handed her 'podava' or a new set of clothes around 8.30 a.m.
The 200-year-old ancestral home was the marriage venue where a colourful shamiana was put up.
Tharoor, who reached the nearby town of Kollengode on Saturday evening, visited his 92-year-old grandmother Jayasankari and sought her blessings.
His accommodation was arranged at Kalari Kovilakom, the former palace of the king of Kollangode, and rooms were booked for Pushkar and her family too but the two changed plans.
